Liechtensteins Sewage Plant is supported by the majority of the municipalities of the Principality. Each year an average of 9,5 Mio. m3 Sewage is processed.
The cleaned Sewage Water from Bendern is normally pumped straight into the Rhein, where the remaining contents will be reduced on the way to the Lake Constance by dilution and the gravel river bed. The inland canal is one of the important spawning waters for fish and it stays for this reason more or less spared of this rest load from the plant in Bendern. There is no further influence on the water of the catchment area as a result of the Rain Water relief system.
The sewage plant Liechtenstein is a part of the Swiss Sewage and Water Association (VSA). The Organisation for "Energy in Infrastructure Systems" of Switzerland, rewarded in the UNO year of the water, the prize Médaille d'eau, to the Sewage plant Liechtenstein for a energy conscious Sewage plant. |
