Iseki Vacuum Systems, specialists in providing efficient sewage collection systems in locations impossible or impracticable for gravity systems to operate, were asked by the Sheikh of Sharjah, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, to supply a sewage collection solution for the University. To provide a high-efficiency wastewater pumping package Iseki Vacuum Systems required a pump with a low NPSH and good solids handling capability.
Until 1997 Hidrostal have supplied a total of eight E125 pumps, each rated at 50 l.s.
Brian Hayden of Iseki Vacuum Systems explains: ‘The pumps were chosen because they have a low NPSH. This means that the pumps have considerable suction capability and sewage can be pulled out of the tank even though it is under vacuum without the need to fit balancing lines which the pumps we used previously required and as a result they were prone to blocking. These pump units have been working very well since 1997 when they were installed and commissioned. They cope extremely well with the transfer of the raw sewage delivered from the main vacuum collection tank - we have not had to touch them since they were installed!’
